Comité Fiscalité et Réglementation
Given the increasing globalization and digitalization of business activities, Japan and the EU have both reform their data protection rules in order to raise the level of requirement and security of the data processing activity, better protect individuals’ rights and reinforce their trust in international trade and innovation.
Despite the finalization of the negotiations related to the Japan European Economic Partnership Agreement, international companies trading in Japan and in the EU have to comply with two different regulations: the Japanese Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
In the era of digitalization, data protection is becoming a crucial subject for all industries. The law firm Kitahama Partners will help you understand better those two reforms, their differences and how to comply.
