The French Chamber is pleased to invite you to the Brands Forum's third think tank on the theme: “Recruitment and retention strategies for selective brands, back office and retail”. We will discuss with speakers and panelists from various professional backgrounds about the human resources challenges in Japan. In particular, we will focus our attention on a sociological point of view of the Japanese society, as well as on an analysis of the situation for the luxury industry in Japan, in order to draw comparisons between the two.
Furthermore, we aim to discuss with different entrepreneurs who have left foreign companies in Japan with the objective of understanding their motivations and what should be changed in order to recruit and retain talents.
The session will end with round table talks animated by moderators from the industry, in order to propose global solutions to enhance human resources strategies in the selective brands industries. These global solutions will then be shared with all the participants of the Brands Forum.
About the speakers
“Values of work and generations”
Muriel Jolivet is a professor at Sophia University Faculty of Foreign Languages, department of French studies. She holds a Ph.D. from the university of Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris 3, Faculty of Arts department of sociology, among others. She has been a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley on anthropology, gender and men studies, as well as at the School of Oriental and African studies in London. Mrs. Jolivet has written numerous books in Japanese, English and French, such as Japan, the Childless society? (1997), Homo japonicus (2000) or Japan’s Youth in need of new templates: best used key words to describe the Japanese youth (2010).
Mrs. Jolivet will be talking about the values of these new generations in Japan, their relationship to work and how foreign companies could leverage these values within their organizations.
“Improving HR: Learnings from our project experiences in Japan luxury industry”
Junichi Takinami is a Senior Client Partner for KornFerry Hay Group based in Tokyo.
Mr. Takinami has diverse expertise in management consulting, especially in strategy development, business process development/re-engineering, sales force effectiveness, new business development and corporate turnaround. He also has a deep experience in strategic workforce planning, global talent management, leadership development, M&A, and organization transformation.
Through his speech, Mr. Takinami will expose the different learnings from clients in terms of retention, organization and performance issues as well as the strengths, opportunities and challenges in terms of management and leadership from the luxury industry. He will take companies both within and outside our industry as examples to illustrate his findings.
“Understanding the values of the new generation”
Hiroko Nakamura is a communicator and founder of Mash-Inc. She has been evolving through various projects from corporate PR to project planning since november 2015. She is now designing her life-work project: “voice of women”, a platform where women can have private consultations with experts.
Fukumi Kazlou is the founder of Tokyo Consult, a full-stack marketing and consulting studio. Previously, she executed various marketing and promotion campaigns in large companies, such as Accenture, in addition to a fast growing start-up. Currently, she is working on expanding her marketing and consulting brand while building her own consumer-facing services.
