The CCI France Japon is glad to announce the next Tax and Regulations Committee which will be held on Friday, July 13.
As everyone knows, the GDPR entered into effect on May 25, but the controversy surrounding the law is only starting and an important part is coming from its extra-territorial application. The situation is now even more complex since the Japanese privacy law was revised in 2017 with changes also affecting data transfers.
What happens to Japanese customer data sent to the EU? EU customer data used in Japan? Will relationship with service providers be modified ? what new obligations should be taken into account?
Jean-Denis Marx, a partner at Baker McKenzie will help us respond to these questions. He will outline concrete cases and define how these two laws affect businesses operating in Japan.
