ChatGPT lands in Tokyo, Japan

In response to the global boom in generative AI, San Francisco-based ChatGPT is expanding its international presence.
After opening offices in London and Dublin last year, OpenAI plans to expand into Asia, with the opening of an office in Tokyo in April.
This geographic foothold will enable the developer to provide customized business services and participate in the creation of a governance framework for technology. Thanks to a partnership with Microsoft, many Japanese companies are already exploiting OpenA's generative AI technology.
Hiring local talent in Japan is also on the agenda.
Open AI had already shown an interest in Japan before: the company’s CEO, Sam Altman, met with current Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida last April, a year after the announcement of ChatGPT, where he had already hinted at opening an office in the country.
