Price rises for nearly 3,000 food products in Japan

Starting in April, the price of around 2,800 food will increase this month.
This is the first time in 6 months that more than 2,000 food items will see their prices increased.
According to Teikoku Databank, the average price increase is around 23%. Among the items, processed foods - such as ham and sausages - will see the biggest increase.
In the future, higher import costs due to the weak yen and higher labor costs due to rising wages are likely to have an impact on selling prices.
