Recap of the Galette des Rois with ACCJ, TJCS and MOF

Crowd at Vollon

On February 10th, the France–Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFJ), Chubu Desk, co-hosted a Galette des Rois celebration at Restaurant Vollon in Nagoya.

For the first time in the Chubu region, the CCIFJ joined forces with the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ), the Tokai Canada Japan Association, and the MOF Museum Nagoya to co-host this event. This traditional Galette des Rois celebration brought together four business communities in a warm and friendly atmosphere, fostering new connections and strengthening existing relationships.

Following the great success of last year’s edition, which welcomed over 70 guests, this year’s event exceeded expectations with more than 100 participants. Each organization reached full capacity several days in advance. This strong attendance created valuable opportunities for networking, with many participants exchanging business cards and engaging in meaningful discussions.

Co-host presentation

The event began with opening remarks from the co-hosts. Mr. Yamamoto from the MOF Museum Nagoya delivered the first speech, followed by Mr. Amano from the Tokai Japan Canada Society, Mr. Eric John, President of Boeing Japan and President of the ACCJ, and finally Mr. Jean-François Rauch, Regional Director of the CCIFJ.

Other high ranking guests joined us such as Mr David Perdue, Canada's consul at Nagoya ; Bruce McCaughan from TJCA or Victor Osumi, previous president of the ACCJ.

We also had the honors of the participation of many world class companies like General Electrics, Dassault System, Boeing, CEVA Logistics, Néode Systems, Fuji Industries, Sojitz, Sora Materials, Meca Aero Consulting, Central Japan Economic Federation, Aichi International Convention and Exhibition Center, Tobu Top Tours, Donq

After the speeches, guests enjoyed a toast before gathering around the buffet.

The buffet

The buffet, carefully prepared by Restaurant Vollon, showcased seasonal ingredients with a refined French touch. Guests could also enjoy a selection of cocktails at the bar, operated by Nichifutsu Boeki, featuring refreshing creations based on Perrier and Monin syrups.

This place worked as a hub for everyone where you could meet new people while discovering new tastes from fabulous products.

The MOF Museum Nagoya also prepared a cheese fondue with mushrooms from Ogaki, an elegant mix between french cuisine and local products.

The galette des Rois

The highlight of the evening, the traditional Galette des Rois, was then served. Guests enthusiastically participated in the tradition, and those who discovered the fève in their slice were crowned kings and queens of the night. The discovery of this beloved French custom contributed to the cheerful and convivial atmosphere.

It's with reticence that the guests left the restaurant as they enjoyed the opportunity to continue their conversations and expand their professional networks.

Appreciation

The CCIFJ would like to extend its sincere thanks to Restaurant Vollon for hosting the event and preparing an excellent buffet, to Nichifutsu Boeki for their delightful cocktail selection, to the City of Ogakifor providing sake and “masu” (small recipients made out of wood to drink sake) for the participants and to honor us with the presence of the Mayor Mr Ishida.

Finally, we would like to warmly thank our co-hosts and all participants, whose presence made this event such a memorable success.
