France Japon Eco event

Japan’s tourism community used to lament the dearth of luxury hotels in Japan. In 2017, author David Atkinson noted that Japan had about as many 5-stars hotels (28) as Vietnam (26), and 4 times less than Thailand (110).

No more. High-end hotels are opening in Japan at an unprecedented, frantic, some say unsustainable. According to some estimates, 28 luxury hotels will open this year, 21 in 2024, and 30 in 2025 and beyond. This extraordinary activity has created its own, new challenges. Staff is scarce. Providers are overwhelmed. Supply may overcome demand.

Come hear 3 leading professionals with different backgrounds to address these issues head-on. Sam Sakamura (Hyatt Japan), Seth Sulkin (Pacifica) and Hirofumi Matsunaga (Savills) will navigate us through today’s hotel landscape in Japan and better prepare ourselves for tomorrow. Their presentations will be followed by a light, networking brunch among industry professionals.

Your room is ready: join us on Feb 3, 11 am, at CCI France Japon.
