DRAFT Ver. April 21, 2023
Business Leaders’ Declaration for a Society with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
A society where diversity, equity and inclusion are present is one where all of us can pursue our happiness, where we welcome different opinions and thoughts, where we exclude no one, and where we are more flexible and resilient.
Such a society is essential for business growth, value creation and reduction of social divisions and disparities.
It is important for all businesses to cultivate a culture where diverse talents flourish regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, age and disability. It is imperative to provide the same opportunities and benefits to all partners, regardless of marital relation or gender identity, and to improve facilities and systems so they are user-friendly to all.
We, the Business Leaders in Japan - host of the G7 - will take the lead in implementing these organizational changes and societal deployments in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the G7 national Chambers of Commerce and their related business communities, over the next four years to simultaneously realize "Society with DEI” and "Dynamic Economic Growth”.
