Focus on the Euro-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement

The French Chamber is glad to announce, in collaboration with BNP Paribas Japan, the seminar “Focus on the Euro-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement” on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at the office of BNP Paribas Japan.

The Euro-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement will become effective as soon as February 1st, 2019 and will have an important impact on European firms operating in Japan. The agreement will facilitate and liberalize bilateral EU-Japan trade, including removing the vast majority of the €1 billion duties paid annually by European companies exporting to Japan.

On this occasion, Francesco Formiconi, Executive Director of the European Business Council, will present everything to know before the entry into force of the agreement: the main benefits, opportunities and the importance of monitoring its proper implementation. He will be joined by Sylwia Czerska, Second Secretary, Trade Section of Delegation of the European Union to Japan, responsible, among other things, for the implementation of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement and for the agricultural policy.

About the speaker

Francesco Formiconi, Executive Director of the European Business Council in Japan

Graduated in Social and Economic Sciences at the Bocconi University in Milan in 1989 and in Japanese Language and Culture at the University of Foreign Languages in Osaka, Francesco Formiconi worked first at the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade in Osaka and then for 15 years as Administrative Manager of the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, first in Hamburg and then in Hong Kong.

Since 2007 he held various positions such as Controller at Safilo Japan, COO Vice-President at Giorgio Armani Japan and Vice-President of Japan Europe Trading. He had been chairing the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan 2010 till 2014 and the Retail & Wholesale Committee of the European Business Council from 2015 till 2016.

He also held lectures at Lignan University in Hong Kong, Tokyo University, Hosei University and Sophia University in Tokyo.
