The American Chamber of Commerce in Kansai presents: Masayoshi Matsunaga of Hakutsuru Sake Brewery, introducing their successful overseas strategy.

Hakutsuru Brewery

For the first installment of the ACCJ's Business Strategy Series, they are welcoming Masayoshi Matsunaga of Hakutsuru Sake Brewery, which celebrated its 280th anniversary last October.

Hakutsuru Brewery is a pioneer in overseas expansion and in this session will talk about its strategic successes and failures in expanding into the U.S., including its 2011 acquisition of SakeOne Corporataion.

Hakutsuru Brewery’s sake is made in Nada, Hyogo Prefecture, often considered the best place for sake brewing. The sake is made with original brewer’s rice “Hakutsuru Nishiki” and water from the Rokko mountain range and is both machine-made with the latest technology and hand-made following a long tradition.

In recent years, the company has exported its products to more than 50 countries, with the United States accounting for the largest percentage of sales by region at more than 30%, with China in second place.

Matsunaga will also talk about the launch of "Blue Moon," the #1 craft beer in the U.S., which went on sale in Japan last March.

Following Matsunaga's talk will be networking over a glass of Hakutsuru Brewery's sake, Blue Moon Beer, and more.
