The Esprit Design Committee of the French Chamber is glad to announce its next seminar “Sustainability—from a buzzword to strategy: engaging consumers, employees, and business partners in Japan” on Thursday, February 6 at L'Espace@CCIFJ

Population growth, resource scarcity, climate change, stakeholder pressure and the changing expectations of the new consumer generation (millennials and Gen Z)—these macro trends are changing the perception of sustainability by the corporate world from a “nice-to-have” to a “must-have” crucial to the long-term competitiveness. The presentation will cover strategic implications of social and environmental issues for Japanese affiliates, and examine how to integrate local initiatives relevant to the Japanese society with global sustainability plans of overseas-based headquarters. With real-life examples and best practice case studies, we will seek to answer the following questions:

-  What social and environmental issues must your company address today?

-  How to future-proof your business (product development, supply chain, etc.) and get prepared for new sustainability challenges?

- How can sustainability help differentiate the brand and drive greater consumer resonance and pricing power?

- How can you create an attractive workplace by appealing to your employees through sustainability?

- What are the stumbling blocks for implementing sustainability plans in Japan and how to overcome them?

- What are the stumbling blocks for implementing sustainability plans in Japan and how to overcome them?
