The French Chamber of Commerce in Japan presents its Women in Business Program for 2021.

This program is designed for all business women at different stages in their careers showing them the leadership and management with gender equality, and inclusivity .

This 8-day program aims to strengthen participants with the following skills and knowledge:

  • Enhance leadership skills and strategic thinking needed to achieve results and overcome challenges unique to women leaders
  • Learn how to build and enhance their credibility across an organization
  • Develop a strong personal mission that enhances their career and resilience as a leader

The program will be delivered in Japanese by Multinational professors from Globis Business School. A certificate will be delivered by Globis upon completion of the program.

TRAINING MODULES

Through the following 8 days, participants are taken through the fundamentals of what give you the real leadership skills today.

Module 1: Leadership

October 25, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This session will kick-off with team-building designed to build an atmosphere of collaboration and mutual growth among the participants. This session will explore the process of Leadership in general as well as specific challenges faced by female professionals. The facilitator will help participants identify what it takes to grow and succeed as a female leader in Japan as well as identify issues related to their own leadership development and obtain direction for future action (create a commitment sheet).

Module 2: Personal Mission

October 26, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Participants will learn about the importance and impact of having a Personal Mission as a female leader and staying true to their authentic values in the business world (through a case study analysis). Participants will spend time identifying their core values as a female leader, build their Personal Mission and make a presentation in the session. Finally, participants will receive feedback and comments from the lecturer and other participants and gain insights about themselves and the aspiration and challenges of other female leaders here in JapanThrough sharing goals and experiences as leaders, this session aims to build a strong network among the participants.

Module 3: Strategic Thinking

November 2, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This session will focus on the role and importance of strategy in corporate and business management and explore fundamental strategic frameworks and analytical methods. Participants will also learn about the strategic elements needed to establish competitive advantage in business. This course will enable participants with a toolkit to analyze their own business environment, customer needs and well as the current strategy of their own company. They will also learn how to identify gaps in strategy which will enable them to make better decisions and proposals within their company and business. This session will utilize business cases about Japanese companies as well as multinational companies operating in Japan to explore strategic issues from different perspectives

Module 4: Leading Organizational Change and Teams

November 9, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This session will focus on Organizational Leadership and the leadership skills needed to lead organizational change as well as teams in the practical business world. Participants will also explore the challenges of navigating this process as a female leader as well as brainstorm solutions on how to overcome them in their organizational and business contexts. This session will wrap up by exploring agile team management and organizational change methodologies in a rapidly changing environment.

Module 5:  Power & Influence

November 15, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Participants learn how to influence action in others by exercising the appropriate use of influence and personal power. Different types of power and influence will be explored in the context of influencing or inspiring subordinates, supervisors, members of other departments, or organizations with a different cultures. The above will also explore the unique challenges faced by female professionals: how to build credibility in a male-dominated business environment, how to influence stakeholders with very different experiences and mind-sets, etc. This course will enable participants to overcome challenges, achieve personal goals and work successfully at broader and higher levels.

Module 6:  Facilitation and Influence

November 26, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Participants will gain practical and reproducible skills that will enable them to be more effective in meetings and projects.   This includes everything from how to clarify meeting objectives, techniques to handle and structure meetings, ask effective questions, how to build commitment from meeting participants and build consensus as well as how to resolve conflict while avoiding being perceived as too forceful. At the same time, participants will learn how to empower themselves and others and how to build credibility and visibility as a female leader/manager though effective communication.

Module 7:  Cross cultural management

November 29, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Business in Japan is becoming increasingly diverse: Japanese companies are expanding business overseas, multinational companies are expanding in Japan, the labor force is becoming increasingly diverse.  Cross-cultural/diversity management and communication skills are increasing necessities for leaders in Japan. Participants will explore the characteristics of the Japanese culture as well as Japanese management and compare that to other cultures. Through this understanding, participants will be able to work and manage people more effectively in diverse business environments. At the same time, it will also enable participants to better manage conflict in Japanese environments that arise from differences in gender, work styles, divisional cultures, generational values, etc.

Completed by 2 evenings sessions about intercultural issues and sharing experience with special guests from our network.
