Water, be drinkable or waste, will always be a matter of life or death. How to best manage it? Will we have enough of it? The issue is very sensitive in Japan, blessed with abundant water, whose culture revolves around water, and who faces ageing water infrastructures.

How to make the best of water scarcity? We gather at the CCI France Japon’s Espace two of the best experts of the field for an exceptional evening.

Professor at the University of Tokyo, Taikan Oki is one of the world’s foremost authorities on water. In 2024, he was the laureate of the prestigious Stockholm Water Prize Institute. Oki-Sensei will give us an overview of the state of water in Japan and the world, and what reforms are necessary today.

Toshio Kyosai is project manager for Veolia Japan. Mr Kyosai piloted what the water industry calls the “Miyagi model”, i.e. the takeover by Veolia Japan of Miyagi prefecture’s water infrastructure. Kyosai-san will share his experience on adapting Veolia’s model to a Japanese local power, and under what conditions this model can be replicated elsewhere.

If you are interested in water or in working with Japan’s local powers, join us for an exceptional evening.
