Yohei SAKAMAKIForestry Expert and Forest Writer

Born in Yokohama. After graduating from Waseda University, he started working as a journalist for the Kochi Shimbun in 2010, and in 2019 he moved to the Wakafuji area of Shimanto City, Kochi Prefecture under the company's self-training system to apprentice under a forester who practises 'self-thinning forestry', which involves thinning trees along roads to prevent damage to the mountains. In 2021, he left the company and moved to the Kyowa area of Yamakita-cho, Ashigarakami-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture. Currently, in addition to writing, he is working with local residents to develop the forest/ mountains.
