EBC welcomes Nikolaus Boltze as its next President

The European Business Council in Japan (EBC) has announced the appointment of Nikolaus Boltze as its next President, following the completion of its presidential election process on 12 November.

His appointment will take effect in January 2026.

Currently serving as Country Representative for thyssenkrupp AG in Japan, Nikolaus brings extensive leadership experience and a strong understanding of Europe-Japan business relations. Within the EBC, he has been actively involved in several committees, notably as Chair of the Aeronautics, Space, Defence & Security Committee.

He has also served as President of the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation and represents his company on the European side of the EU-Japan Business Round Table, contributing to high-level policy discussions with Japanese and European authorities.

With his background in corporate leadership and cross-border cooperation, Nikolaus Boltze is well positioned to lead the EBC’s strategic direction from January 2026, succeeding Laurent Depus, whose dedicated leadership continues until 31 December 2025.
