Election of Laurent Depus as President of the EBC
The European Business Council (EBC) has announced the election of Laurent Depus as a new President. Laurent Depus officially assumed his role on January 1, 2024, succeeding the former President, Michael Mroczek.
Laurent Depus, a seasoned professional with 36 years of experience in Japan's financial sector, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role. As a Belgian national, he has held key positions in senior management across Anglo-Saxon, European, and domestic companies. His extensive background includes years of regulatory relationship management and advocacy with Japan's financial authorities and administrations.
Notably, Laurent serves as an ambassador for FinCity.Tokyo and holds a position on the Board of SMBC Trust Bank. He remains actively engaged with foreign financial stakeholders, demonstrating his commitment to fostering strong international ties. Additionally, Laurent collaborates closely with the International Bankers Association (IBA), further contributing to the global financial dialogue.
