On May 27, 2026, we are pleased to organise an exclusive members-only preview evening at Ceysson & Bénétière Tokyo for the exhibition “Parable” by Peter Halley.
This special evening will offer guests the opportunity to discover the exhibition in an intimate setting and engage with the work of one of the leading figures of contemporary art.
The artist himself, Peter Halley, will be present for the occasion, alongside Loïc Bénétière and François Ceysson, Founders and Partners of Ceysson & Bénétière.

About the exposition "Parable"
From May 28 to August 22, 2026, Ceysson & Bénétière Tokyo presents a collection of new works by Peter Halley. Created between 2025 and 2026, this body of work reflects the uninterrupted vitality of his artistic research. A central figure on the international art scene, Halley continues to explore the structures of our contemporary world through his emblematic visual language and the use of his signature materials, Roll-a-Tex and fluorescent acrylic.
The exhibition takes its title, “Parable”, from the monumental work at its core. Alongside it are eight paintings and seven works on paper, studies combining digital printing and pearlescent acrylic, offering an immersion into the artist’s creative process.
The artist offers the following insight into the evolution of this new series:
“The small-format works in this exhibition belong to a series initiated in the 1990s, which Halley refers to as ‘small prisons’ or ‘small cells.’ Each composition is built around a single cell placed upon a rectangular base. In the past, these elements were firmly anchored to their support. However, in recent years, these configurations have become strikingly unstable. Prisons and cells now appear to slide away from their background and base, introducing a sense of imbalance into what was once a solid and rational structure.
The works presented here expand this instability on a larger scale. The medium and large formats intensify this disruption by combining several prisons within a single composition, arranged in stacked and modular configurations. The elements shift in relation to one another, acting as drifting units rather than isolated forms. At every scale, this new fragmentation marks a rupture in Halley’s work: cells and prisons are now torn from their environment and reassembled into new compositional structures.”
Through this body of work, Peter Halley invites us to reflect deeply on the way the geometric patterns surrounding us, whether physical or virtual, shape our existence. By revisiting his iconic motifs, he continues his analysis of the systems of control and flows that structure modernity. Halley transforms geometry into a diagram of our reality: a world of interconnected compartments echoing the omnipresence of digital networks, where light itself becomes the primary tool for defining colour.
