“The Arc”: Nissan's new strategic plan

Nissan Motor Corporation announced on Monday its new strategic plan for the next three years.

“We cannot succeed if we keep doing the things the same way as before,” said Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida at a press conference on Monday.

Facing intense competition in China as well as an acceleration of the energy transition, Nissan has announced the launch of its new strategic plan called for the next three years, “The Arc.”

The new strategic plan aims first to increase Nissan’s sales volume. Japan’s third-largest automaker plans to increase its sales by a further million units and its operating margin by 6% by fiscal 2026. 30 new models, including 16 electric vehicles, will be launched by 2026.

Nissan is also seeking to improve its profitability. In China, where competition is intensifying, 73% of Nissan brand cars will be renewed by 2026. The automotive giant is banking on the strategy of energy competitiveness, with the introduction of 8 new electric vehicles locally.

Nissan has also announced that it is extending its strategic alliances with other companies to improve its competitiveness. It has signed an agreement with Honda and is already considering collaboration in the field of electrification and vehicle intelligence.

The strategic plan also includes the reduction of electric car costs by 30%, as well as a total return target of 30% for shareholders through dividends and share purchases.

Potential sales of 2.5 trillion yen are expected by fiscal 2030. “The Arc represents Nissan's path to the future,” promises Makoto Uchida at the press conference.
