Marcus Bauder is the CEO of Hakuba Hotel Group, the largest hospitality company in the Hakuba
Valley, owning and/or managing hotels, apartments, chalets, travel agencies, events, restaurants, and
bars. Hakuba Hotel Group's portfolio includes charming hotels and various chalets suitable for
different group sizes and equipped with luxurious amenities and modern, comfortable apartments in
prime locations that are among the most high-end accommodation in Asia. In addition to luxurious
accommodations and excellent dining options, Hakuba Hotel Group is also known for offering
outstanding services for their guests and hosting events such as festivals or sports competitions.

Prior to his current role Marcus Bauder was the Representative Director of Shangri-La Hotels Japan
and the General Manager of the luxury Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo for more than three years. Under his
leadership the hotel achieved the highest revenue and profits in its history. Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo
was also nominated No. 1 hotel in Japan in the 2019 TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Awards and has
been awarded the coveted Forbes 5-star rating consecutively since 2018 as one of only 199 hotels
worldwide.

Marcus Bauder has been nominated ‘Hotelier of the Year 2019’ by the Virtuoso luxury network at the
award ceremony held in August 2019 at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.

Previously Marcus Bauder was the Hotel Manager at the legendary Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok,
Thailand from 2013 until 2016 where he oversaw the re-conceptualization and renovation of the
hotel’s historical Author’s wing, the French restaurant ‘Le Normandie’, the Bamboo Bar as well as four
gourmet shops in the city. Le Normandie today holds two Michelin stars and the Bamboo Bar is
ranked among the Top 10 bars in Asia.
