Originally from New Zealand, Glen Argyle moved to Japan after graduating university and began his career as a middle school teacher in Osaka. After teaching, he joined Sumitomo Pharma (formerly Dainippon Pharmaceutical) in clinical and business development before moving into corporate strategy and portfolio management roles. He played a key role as part of the leadership team in scaling a Japanese CRO startup to 130 employees.
Argyle then moved to Takeda Yakuhin as the first foreign hire in the global corporate functions, working directly with the CEO and contributing to the globalization of the company’s operations.
He followed this by launching the CRO division at Inventiv Japan, growing it to 300 employees in three years. He then held leadership roles at Bayer Yakuhin, including head of business development and therapeutic area leads before becoming chief of staff for the Japan APAC region. He is currently president and representative director of Baxter Japan.
