Urban development for the next 100 years: A case study of TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY

The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan is delighted to announce its May Café-Croissant.

This event is exclusively reserved for member companies of the French Chamber. It aims to discuss a current topic and facilitate our members networking and sharing their experiences around a small breakfast.

On May 22th (Wed), our guest will be Mrs. TERADA Nanami, Chief Staff of Shinagawa community Development Division,Marketing Headquartersat EAST JAPAN RAILWAY COMPANY, and the theme will be as follows :

Urban Development for the next 100 years : A case study of TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY

Inaugurated in 2020, the Takanawa Gateway Station attracted attention as the first new station on the Yamanote Loop Line in about 50 years. Right in front of that station, starting with its opening in March 2025, a new city spanning 9.5 hectares will be born, with the concept of 'Global Gateway' and 'An Experimental Site to Create Enriching Lives for the Next 100 Years'

JR East aims to create the new city that inherits the memory of innovation, where the first railway in Japan ran about 150 years ago, and continues to produce new businesses and cultures as an international exchange hub. The Takanawa-Shinagawa area has good access to downtown Tokyo and Haneda International Airport, and in the future, with the opening of the Maglev Shinkansen planned by JR Central, the area will have excellent access to western Japan.

On the day of the event, let's discuss the future of urban development and the role of international exchange hubs, using this development as a case study.

Important note: Our café-croissant events are discussions around a topic with an expert of this particular topic. It aims to make a subject accessible to people who do not know much about the subject and allow them to ask questions and discuss with ease.

As a result, please understand that this event is not aimed at professionals of the given theme.
