Driving business transformation beyond borders: Global Leadership through the experiences of Michelin and Nissan

The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan is pleased to co-organize the France–Japan Economic Forum 2026 in Fukuoka in partnership with the Fukuoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Titled “Driving Business Transformation Beyond Borders: Global Leadership Through the Experiences of Michelin and Nissan,” this forum will explore the challenges of leadership in a multicultural environment, an essential factor for the success of both Japanese and French companies in tomorrow’s global economy. The discussion will draw in particular on the career of an executive who has served on the boards of two major international automotive groups.

We are honored to welcome Bernard Delmas, former head of international management within the Michelin and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., groups. He will share his expertise in international business management and intercultural environments, shaped by his deep understanding of both Japanese and French corporate cultures as well as his extensive leadership experience.

Following the seminar, participants will have the opportunity to continue the discussion during a networking session designed to encourage exchanges and foster new connections. This will provide French and Japanese companies with a valuable space to share experiences and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

Speaker Profile

Bernard Delmas

Bernard Delmas graduated from two of France’s leading institutions: École nationale supérieure des mines de Paris, where he studied physics, and HEC Paris, where he specialized in management.

After a twenty-year career with the Michelin Group, he also became actively involved in the activities of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan.
He currently serves as an independent director at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd..
