Agility: why having this capability in your organization is so critical

We are living in a time of great change. Bigger change. Faster change. More complex change. More cross-functional change. At the same time, we are more connected and processing more information than we ever have had in the past. In Japan in particular, ageing demographics, government-driven reform of work, technological disruption and a record rate of merger and acquisitions in 2018 are forcing organizations to adapt and change with increasing speed and velocity.

The winners of the future will be those that can out-change the competition and the market. Business leaders have a growing recognition of the imperative for an agile organization, but there is still a gap in understanding what agility means and what attributes agile organization possess. As an example, many leaders equate agility with an ability to change strategy and operations. While this is part of the equation, a larger part is developing the mindset within the people to desire to accept and adopt numerous adaptations.

If you wish to know more about organizational agility and how HR can contribute to developing a strategic capability for change, come listen to Prosci’s EVP of global business, Mark Dorsett, for what promises to be an insightful and mind-changing lunch seminar!

About Change Management and Organizational Agility

According to studies from the Project Management Institute (PMI), to forge that agility, successful organizations are aggressively reshaping their culture and business practices on a three-pronged front:

  • Rigorous change management to better adapt to shifting market conditions
  • More collaborative and robust risk management
  • Increased use of standardized project, program and portfolio practices

Prosci’s research shows that most organizations recognize Change Management Capability as a crucial enabler but also shows that this is the weaker pillar for many.

The business environment is changing at an unprecedented pace. Yet some organizations manage

that volatility better than others through aggressive Change Management. Organizations effective at Change Management are more agile, not only reducing the impact of external changes, but also capitalizing on the opportunities they may present.
