AEON acquires Seiyu subsidiary in Hokkaido

Supermarket giant Aeon announced on April 2 the acquisition of the Seiyu supermarket, present only in Hokkaido.

Following this acquisition, the Seiyu brand will disappear from Hokkaido. From October, the 9 stores in Sapporo currently operating under the Seiyu brand will be renamed "Aeon" and "MaxValu". However, they will continue to offer products under Aeon Group's private label "TopValu".

This transaction, valued at 17 billion yen, aims to strengthen Aeon's presence in the Hokkaido region.

Current employees will not be made redundant.
