L'Oréal, France’s top 1 in gender equality

L’Oréal was ranked ninth in the world in terms of gender equality.

“We are very proud to once again be recognized for our long-standing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion” (DE&I) said L'Oréal’s Chief Executive Officer. 

At the beginning of March, L’Oréal was ranked ninth in the world according to the NGO Equilap's 2024 Global Gender Equality Ranking. 

The world’s largest cosmetics company was also named France’s best company for gender equality. 

“The fact that we have made it into the top ten globally this year is testament to the hard work of everyone in our company,” said Nicolas Ieronymus, general manager of L’Oréal, following the publication of the study. 

The study by Dutch NGO Equilap evaluates companies in terms of gender equality on the basis of various criteriai ncluding: gender balance among senior managers and employees, the gender pay gap, parental leave, sexual harassment and supply chain policies. 

The L’Oréal Foundation is also committed to gender equality through programs such as Inclusive Sourcing and For Women in Science, in partnership with UNESCO, to support women scientists. 

At L’Oréal, women make up half the board of directors, 32% of the executive committee and 62% of international brand managers. In Japan, 54% of management positions are held by women.
