Maison Duculty : a successful export story

[Translate to English:] Maison Duculty

Renowned for its outstanding charcuterie, Maison Duculty turned to the Business Support service of CCI France Japan to enter the Japanese market.

Charcutiers for several generations, Maison Duculty has been producing high quality charcuterie in the Lyon region for many years.

Having long held a personal interest in Japan, Gaëtan Duculty, Managing Director of the company, turned his attention to this market with the aim of sharing his products in Japan. Quickly faced with the difficulties of importing such products and it should be recalled that Japanese regulations are very strict when it comes to charcuterie he decided to call on the Business Support service of CCI France Japan to assist him in his efforts.

A prospecting mission tailored to his sector

Thanks to his region’s Go Export program, he was able to quickly identify his needs. CCI France Japan then organized business meetings for him during the France Week event, which brings together French product exporters at the renowned Isetan department store in Tokyo.

CCI prepared eight highly qualified business meetings for me. This allowed me to very precisely identify the work that needed to be done in order to import my products. It was also an opportunity to establish contacts with importers, an essential gateway to selling my products in Japan”, Gaëtan Duculty tells us.

Upon his return, he wasted no time and complied with the country’s requirements. He quickly implemented the expected standards along the production chain and prepared an application for approval.

Exports are still exclusive and limited to the hotel and restaurant sector, but Gaëtan Duculty hopes to soon be able to distribute his products to the Japanese general public. He was also present at the French Week organized at Isetan, where his charcuterie products enjoyed real success with Japanese consumers.
