Toulouse, the fourth largest city in France, stands as the central hub for the future of European aeronautical and aerospace industries. A nexus of innovation nestled in an exceptional living environment; the "Pink City" attracts companies of all sizes.
When a company looks up to the sky or, more modestly, to the world, it looks at Toulouse. The metropolis is a thriving economic region (around 3% annual growth) that attracts tourists, students and decision-makers from all over the world. Why? Behind Toulouse's charming living environment lies a powerful industrial dynamism, particularly in the European aerospace industry, with CNES (the French equivalent of the JAXA space agency), Airbus Defence & Space and Thales Alenia Space being some of the most prestigious companies. Toulouse relies on a vast network of SMEs, ETIs and large companies, as well as multinationals and start-ups, and gets its workforce from research centres, laboratories, universities and world-renowned schools (a quarter of the local population is made up of students). Remarkably well-connected (the local airport serves 82 destinations, including 72 international ones), Toulouse is an ideal anchor point for moving throughout Europe. That's why, in less than a year and a half, around ten foreign players in the NewSpace sector have set up in Toulouse. Astroscale chose Toulouse with the support of Invest in Toulouse, the Economic Development Department from the Agence d'Attractivité de Toulouse Metropole. As a leader in orbit services, the Japanese space company is establishing its technical center for orbit cleaning and space debris capture in the city. An obvious choice: when aiming for the stars or seeking international business expansion, it's wise to make a stop in Toulouse.
